GENERAL RULES
All entered photos must be taken on dives with Sunreef Scuba Diving Services between the following dates: July 1st to September 1st All competitors’ cameras must be registered when signing in for your dive. The camera will be given a unique ID that will be used when submitting your photos. Photos must have been taken by the competitor in whose name they are entered. This is a People’s Choice Competition with two entry categories. Each competitor will be able to enter their 3 favourite photos into the pre-final competition. Photo submission deadline is September 2nd close of business day to Sunreef Dive Centre. A single photo from each competitor will be chosen by the Sunreef Staff for the final competition. Final competition will be a Facebook voting competition held from Sep 3rd to the 7th. On September 8th we will announce the winner with an afternoon BBQ at Sunreef Dive Centre.
The copyright of the entered photographs remains with the photographer. During the competition some photos may be used for on-going promotion of the competition. By entering the competition, the participant gives Sunreef permission to publish all winning photos on its website and or other media. The photos entered may be used by Sunreef for advertising purposes but will always be accredited to the photographer.

People’s Choice Best Competition Photo
- DSLR cameras
People’s Choice for Digital SLR – lens choice, content, and shot is at the discretion of the photographer.
- Compact and CSC Cameras
People’s Choice for Compact and Compact System Cameras – content and shot is at the discretion of the photographer.
*These will be the only 2 categories for this competition.
Compact Camera and CSC Categories
Whilst Compact System Cameras do have interchangeable lenses, they are still relatively new in the market place and therefore the CSC and the Compact cameras will be included in the same category.
NO Photo Editing
The purpose of this photo competition is to give all entrants an opportunity to be competitive. In the nature of this idea there will be NO photo editing allowed. This includes crops and zooms… none of any kind. Please submit the original image only! Any image suspected of being edited may be disqualified after notification to photographer.
Entry Submission Guidelines
Entries must be saved in jpeg format and should be sized to be between 2000 and 6000 pixels in the longest dimension. Please limit your images to a maximum file size of 5,000KB (5MB). Images will be viewed on a large monitor and should be in the AdobeRGB 1998 or sRGB color space. Only digital photographs can be entered. Submissions must be on DVD, CD or USB memory stick. Participants must label their submissions clearly with their name, contact phone number, and camera registration ID.
All entries are to be marked with the photographer’s first and last name, entry number, and camera ID (e.g.: john.smith.1.015.jpg). Please ask if you are unclear!
Due to the large volume of data, entries that are not labelled correctly may not be considered. Please make sure you follow the above guidelines or ask for a more detailed explanation.
Diving Code of Conduct and Safe Diving Practices
All participants must adhere to the QLD DERM Guidelines at all times. Participants must not touch, manipulate, damage or harm marine life in any way. This includes but is not limited to the damaging of sponges, corals or anything living on the ships surface. Divers must maintain good buoyancy control at all times. It is not acceptable to touch the ship and cause damage whilst photographing.
- Divers/snorkelers must not deface damage, interfere or remove any material from the ex-HMAS Brisbane
- Divers/snorkelers must not interfere with or collect marine life or any other naturally occurring material in the park.
Any evidence that a participant has done so will result in immediate disqualification. Please dive responsibly.
All participants must agree to abide by PADI Safe Diving Regulations. This also means that you must dive with a buddy at all times. Solo Diving is not permitted in this competition. A copy of these regulations will be provided on our website.
Dives are limited to a total dive time of 50mins or 50bar back on the boat. Safety stops are required at 5 metres for 3 minutes.
