Scorpion Fish

 The Scorpion fish is a member of nature’s true S.W.A.T  team, armed and ready to ambush. This fish is very well camouflaged of which it takes full advantage.
As a bottom dwelling creature the Scorpion fish sits patiently, blending into its surroundings waiting for its next victim to naively approach (usually a small crustation or small fish), then before you can scream “Crikey” the Scorpion fish attacks with its lighting reflexes, quickly opening its jaws which creates a vacuum (that would give the Dyson cleaning product range a run for its money) sucking its prey in.
But the lighting fast reflexes are not the only trick that this fish has up its sleeve, it has spines running all the way down its body which are covered in a very harmful and venomous mucus, which if felt by humans can cause intense swelling and pain as well as paralysis, seizures and vomiting. In fact there are known cases of islanders who have accidently stood on a scorpion fish, the pain was so intense that they have cut their leg off as it was less painful than the sting.
Although this fish has many different means to defend and attack, it is very beautiful, they come in every colour you can imagine.
Rarely moving  makes them a true favourite among the underwater paparazzi, some may liken the scorpion fish to Paris Hilton, certainly not camera shy!
